This one was a challenge. Raised detail and a rear fuselage too awkward to re scribe.
So the decision was made to try something else. The surface detail, although raised, was still excellent. would be a shame to sand it all away.
I used a sponge technique that i discovered by mistake a long time ago. This gives the impression of fingerprints, footprints, grab marks from pushing and pullling the A/C around, ect. Although at first very splotchy and contrasting, the sponged surface goes very sublte after clear is added for the decals. And if its a bit too much, you can always add some paint in with your clear coat to tone it down.
Painted with gunze paints, the whole thing was painted black, then shaded with a mix of grey and blue, then sponged with a very watery mix of dark grey and isopropyl alcohol to bring the black through from underneath. then a mix of clear and a very very dark grey was added all over. Decals added. then a semi gloss clear and a dry brush with dark grey completes the painting.
